Horiziontal Lifeline Systems

Horizontal Lifeline (HLL) Systems are composed primarily of:

  • single
  • multiple span
    • straight or
    • with corner(s) or change in direction
    • Non Pass-Thru and hands free pass-thru capability

Pass-Through HLL

Pass-through multi-span horizontal lifeline (HLL) systems allow workers to walk uninterrupted past intermediate anchorages to perform maintenance operations on steep roofs, narrow ledges, in continuous fall zones, and where other unsafe conditions exist.

How it works

A worker is able to walk uninterrupted along the HLL system using a traveler which runs along the HLL cable. As the worker walks, his/her traveler runs passes thru various interchangeable intermediate anchorage without detachment as depicted below.

Pass-Through HLL Systems are composed of

  • Stainless steel cable
  • Various anchorage connector heads
    • Spiral Head
    • C-Loop Head
    • Pass-Through Brackets
    • Intermediate
    • Intermediate Variable (change in direction)
    • Corner

Non Pass-Thru HLL

Non pass-through horizontal lifeline (HLL) systems allow workers to perform maintenance operations on flat or steep roofs and where other unsafe conditions exist.

How it works

A worker walks along the HLL system using a carabineer which travels on the cable. As the worker walks, he/she is required to unclip and re-clip the carabineer when traveling past intermediate points or use a Y-Lanyard.
